The Arlington Heights Police Department reports that Ridge Avenue was closed between Campbell and Eastman Streets.
According to the Metra website, travelers can anticipate a delay of two to three hours when a pedestrian or automobile incident occurs.
The coroner, the fire department, paramedics, railroad supervisors, and representatives of the municipal and/or Metra police departments all appear on the scene to carry out their respective tasks, according to Metra.
“Depending on the distance each individual must walk and the time of day, this alone may take some time. It can take longer for those officials to arrive if there is heavy traffic or if there is restricted access to the venue.”
Metra’s UP-NW line stops in Crystal Lake, Barrington, Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, and other Northwest suburbs on its way to and from Chicago and Harvard.
The police have yet to release the personal details of the woman who died in the train accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
No other information has been made public.
